I don't have a card-reader, how can I make a payment?

You don’t need a card-reader to arrange a payment to someone you have already paid online. If you haven’t made a payment to this person before, or want to change the reference when paying a bill or company whose account details are stored within Online Banking, please see the following options on how best to make a payment.

If you want to set up or amend a payee in Online Banking you will need your mobile app if you are registered for Biometrics or a card-reader. How do I order a card-reader?

However, you shouldn't need one to arrange a payment to someone you have already paid online - unless you are changing the payment reference when paying a bill or company who's account details are stored within Online Banking

Mobile banking

Mobile banking

You don't need a card-reader if you use our Mobile Banking app. You can make payments of up to £750 by using the account number and sort code of the person or company you want to pay.

If you're aged 16+ you can make up to 5 payments each working day subject to the £750 limit, or 20 payments over 4 working days. If you're aged 13-15 you can make payments up to £30 a day in the mobile app.

If you're aged 16+ you can also make payments of up to £250 through the Pay Your Contacts feature on our Mobile Banking app. If you're aged 13-15 you can make payments up to £30 a day through Pay Your Contacts.
