Student arranged overdraft

Interest free overdraft while you study

Student overdrafts are available to NatWest Student account holders, aged 18 or over, who’ve lived in the UK 3+ years. Overdrafts are subject to status and lending criteria. The limits shown are maximum amounts, and if approved, your overdraft limit may be lower than the maximum.

What you'll get with an overdraft from Natwest

An arranged overdraft allows you to go overdrawn up to an agreed limit. So, if you're short of cash, an arranged overdraft could help cover an unplanned expense. Think of it as a short-term safety net.

Student overdraft limits explained

You can apply for an overdraft of up to £500 when you first open your student account.

You may apply to increase your overdraft over time:

  • Up to £2,000 from your second term in the first year of your course
  • Up to £3,250 from Year 3 onwards (including after you graduate)
