Summary box

Account name: Defined Access Saver

What's the interest rate?

The interest you earn will depend on the amount you have saved over the course of the year. Interest rates on our instant savings accounts are variable.

Can NatWest change the interest rate?

Yes, we may change the rate up or down. There are a few reasons for this, such as a change in the Bank of England base rate. You can find a full list of reasons for an interest rate change in section 10.2 of the Savings Account Terms.

We'll give you 60 days' notice if the rate is going down. If the rate is going up, we'll tell you before or shortly after the change. You can find more details about how we'd tell you about a change in section 10.2 of the Savings Account Terms (PDF, 48KB).

What would the estimated balance be after 12 months based on a £1,000 deposit?

How do I manage my account?

  • You must be a UK resident aged 18 years or over.
  • You can open and manage your account on our mobile app, online or by telephone.
  • You can make payments via mobile app, online, in branch or by telephone.
  • No minimum deposit needs to be made on a regular basis and the maximum balance limit is £3,000,000.
  • You can use Round Ups with the NatWest Defined Access Saver.

Can I withdraw money?

Yes. No notice is required.

You can withdraw money:

  • in branch.
  • by transfer to any other account based in the UK (online, by telephone or on the mobile app).

Please note there are daily limits on the amount that can be transferred from your account online, through telephone or mobile banking. We may also limit the amount of cash you can withdraw or deposit. Information on the current daily limits is available on our website or by contacting Telephone Banking.

Maximum number of withdrawals:

  • You can only make a maximum number of three withdrawals in a calendar year to stay on the higher interest rate (cut off time is 5pm UK time on the last working day of the year). If you make a fourth withdrawal your Defined Access Saver Account interest rate will reduce to the lower rate shown above and will remain on this rate until the start of the next year.

Definitions

Compound interest is interest that is earned on interest that’s already been paid.

Gross means the interest rate you are paid on your savings with no compounding.

p.a. per annum (per year).

Working day means Monday to Friday excluding weekends and bank holidays.

Withdrawals means moving money between accounts in your name, making payments, sending money abroad and withdrawing cash at a branch.
