Premier eligibility criteria apply. To apply, you need to be 18+, a UK resident and pay in at least £1,250 monthly to an eligible NatWest account. You can only hold a maximum of 1 Reward account in your name, and 1 in joint names. £2 monthly fee.

Arranged overdraft

There’s no fees for using our arranged overdraft – we only charge interest on the amount of overdraft you use.

Overdrafts in detail

How do overdrafts work?

There are two different types of overdraft:

An arranged overdraft, which allows you to go overdrawn up to an agreed limit. This is the type of overdraft you could apply for on our Select standard bank account. During your application for an arranged overdraft, we'll run a full credit check to determine how much we can offer you.
An unarranged overdraft. This is when you spend more money than you have in your current account without already having an arranged overdraft, or when you exceed your current arranged overdraft limit.

We charge interest on both types of overdraft. Going in to an unarranged overdraft limit can lead to payments being rejected.

This account offers an overdraft facility (subject to eligibility). You can check if you're likely to be accepted for an overdraft using our eligibility tool.

As an example, the interest cost of using a £500 arranged overdraft is:

at least £100k sole income or £120k joint income paid into your NatWest account,

Your application will be completely online, and you won't need to post us any information or visit a branch.

Tell us a bit about yourself and we’ll set up your account.
Our partner Mitek will then check your identity by matching you to your Photo ID. Your Photo ID must be a Passport, UK or EU/EEA Driving Licence or an EU/EEA National ID card. We might also ask for a valid proof of address. If you don't have your ID to hand you can finish this step later.
Once they’ve confirmed your identity we’ll activate your account.

Please note, a partial switch does not qualify for any switch incentives we may offer.

In summary:

You create a joint account by adding the second applicant to an existing account.

You will need the most up to date version of the app, to make changes to your account.

To open a new account:

Once logged in to the app, choose 'Apply' and then current accounts.
Then choose what type of account you would like to open.

To change your account type or switch into your existing account:

Once logged in, click into the account you wish to change or switch.
Choose either the 'Change my account type' or 'Switch my account' option.

Sign up for Online Banking

You’ll need to sign up for Online Banking with us to apply for a current account. The good news is that it normally takes only 5 minutes and all you’ll need is your sort code, account number and your NatWest Debit Card, if you have one.

Select ‘How to register for Online Banking' to start.

How to register for Online Banking

Head to 'Register for Online Banking'.
Enter your personal details. We’ll need details including your name, date of birth, sort code and account number.
We’ll show you your customer number on screen (you're making good progress at this point). Make a note of it as you’ll need it when you log in, in the future. If we don't need anything else from you, you'll skip straight to step 7, but you may need to go to step 4, don't worry we'll let you know on screen.
We'll then send you an activation code. We'll send you your activation code in a text message. Or if we don’t have your phone number, we’ll send it through the post.
Go to the NatWest website and select ‘Log in’ in the top right-hand corner, have your activation code to hand.
On the log in page, type in your customer number and activation code.
Now you need to choose a password and PIN and commit them to memory. The PIN should be four digits long and your password can be between six and twenty characters, and contain both letters and numbers.
Done, finished, complete. Now you can manage your finances anywhere you can get online.

Once you’ve registered, select ‘I am now signed up’ to log in and apply for a Premier Reward account.

Log in to NatWest Online Banking

Enter your customer number or 16-digit card number to get started.
You'll then need to enter your Online Banking pin and password.
Once you're logged in follow the below

To open a new account:

Select 'Current accounts' from 'Our Products'.
Choose the account you want to apply for and complete your application.

To change to a different account type or to switch into your existing account:

Choose the account you wish to change or switch, click 'Account details'. Then choose either the 'Switch to us form' or review the section 'Want to change to a different type of current account?' to begin your application.

To open a new account:
