Indirect Access Payments & Notifications API

By integrating this API, you’ll get accelerated access to payment schemes such as the Faster Payments Service, as well as the ability to:

  • make inward and outward domestic bank-grade and non-bank grade payments using ISO 20022 PACS (JSON)
  • receive real-time Payment Status Notifications in ISO 20022 PACS (JSON)
  • enquire payment status through immediate or scheduled reporting.

AutoPay Bacs API

With this API, you’ll be able to submit Bacs payments unattended and seamlessly through AutoPay Direct as well as having the ability to:

  • create payment files, instructions and templates
  • review and update status notifications
  • access Bacs reports to easily highlight rejected payments and collections.


Security may be required. Subject to status and eligibility criteria, Fees apply.

You must hold a business current account with NatWest, and you will need to agree to the Autopay Online terms and conditions (PDF, 405KB).

London Mutual Credit Union

London Mutual Credit Union (LMCU) are part of the global credit union movement, with almost 300 credit unions across the UK that serve over 35,000 members. LMCU approached NatWest Bankline Direct for ways to transform their payment processing, security, speed and convenience.

Payments used to take hours

Previously it could take up to three hours to credit payments to their members. LMCU, supported by Tata Consultancy Services, were keen to find a solution that would process payments and make them available within minutes.
