About Ventient Energy

Ventient Energy is one of the largest non-utility onshore wind generators in Europe, with 2.8GW of installed capacity across six countries, and projects in the pipeline totalling another 1GW1. Ventient’s asset base provides around 1.5 million homes with clean electricity, displacing approximately 1.2 million tonnes of CO2 per year1.

Alongside its existing wind farms, Ventient is currently adding solar photovoltaic (PV) assets to its portfolio, as well as exploring different opportunities and renewable technologies to continue to support the clean energy transition.

Ventient’s business approach focuses on four key areas: operational excellence, efficient asset development, technical innovation, and digitalisation.

New financing platform to support growth while simplifying capital structure

Looking to refinance a series of individual debt financings at the operating company level and consolidate these financings into a single platform financing of ~€2.6 billion, Ventient, through its advisors, approached NatWest to potentially participate in this transaction.

Based on those discussions about the platform, which will support both organic and M&A growth, the development of Ventient’s renewable proposition, and the streamlining of administration by consolidating the capital structure, NatWest provided a €200m commitment towards the senior debt package along with both FX and IRS hedging.

NatWest committed to offering funding to help companies tackle climate change

Pablo Andres, CFO, Ventient Energy, said: “We’re excited to have achieved this important milestone of consolidating our capital structure, which means we can now focus on further growth and additional asset, technology, and geographic diversification. We thank NatWest for their continuing support, and their commitment to the renewables sector.”

Joe Taylor, Head of Infrastructure, Project & Specialist Asset Finance at NatWest, commented: “We’re delighted to have had the opportunity to support Ventient’s new financing, helping them to continue expanding their renewables portfolio. At NatWest we have set out a clear ambition to play a key role in helping to address the climate challenge, an important part of which is developing financing structures and providing funding for innovative businesses, such as Ventient. We have had a relationship with them for over five years now and look forward to continuing to work with them to deliver on their ambitions.”
