Interest is calculated daily and paid monthly on the first working day. The number of withdrawals will be set to zero on 1 January each year.

Yes, we may change the rate up or down. There are a few reasons for this, such as a change in the Bank of England base rate. You can find a full list of reasons for an interest rate change in section 10.2 of the Savings Account Terms.

We'll give you 60 days' notice if the rate is going down. If the rate is going up, we'll tell you before or shortly after the change. You can find more details about how we'd tell you about a change in section 10.2 of the Savings Account Terms (PDF, 605 KB).

These are only examples and do not take into account your individual circumstances. They assumes that no further deposits or withdrawals are made, there is no change to the interest rate, you remain on the higher interest rate for the whole year, and any interest earned stays in the account.

You can withdraw money:

• in branch.
• by transfer to any other account based in the UK (online, by telephone or on the mobile app).

Maximum number of withdrawals:

You can make a maximum of three withdrawals from the account in each calendar year (cut-off time is 5pm UK time on the last working day of the year). This limit applies to the account, not to each account holder. For joint accounts, all withdrawals made by any account holder count towards the same three-withdrawal allowance. If a fourth withdrawal is made, the interest rate will reduce to the lower rate shown above and will remain at that rate until the start of the next year.

Annual Equivalent Rate (AER) shows the interest rate if interest is paid and compounded once each year. AER helps you to compare the rates of interest on different accounts.

Compound interest is interest that is earned on interest that’s already been paid.

Gross means the interest rate you are paid on your savings with no compounding.
