Arranged overdrafts

Arranged overdrafts allow you to spend more money than you have in your account to an agreed limit. An overdraft is a form of borrowing and is repayable on demand. It can be useful for short term borrowing.

We'll run a full credit check to determine your overdraft limit. If you don't repay what you borrow, you could harm your credit score and borrowing capability.

How do overdrafts work?

Switching to NatWest

The Current Account Switch Service will do all the work when it comes to switching, moving everything across from your old account all within 7 working days, including Direct Debits and standing orders.

Information Message
By continuing you're confirming you've been provided with, and have acknowledged our important documents, including the FSCS information sheet.

Get ready to apply

Before we open your bank account, we'll need to verify your identity. We may ask to see...

  • a document to confirm your identity (like a passport) and a document as proof of address (like a utility bill).
  • a selfie that you'll need to take for us on a device with a camera. Don't worry, this is just to help us verify your identity.

We work with our trusted security partner Mitek on this, and will let you know what you need to provide at the end of your application.

What kind of account do you want?
Are you looking to open an account by yourself, or with another person?

You're all set

  1. Tell us a bit about yourself and we’ll set up your account.
  2. Our partner Mitek will then check your identity by matching you to your Photo ID. Your Photo ID must be a Passport, UK or EU/EEA Driving Licence or an EU/EEA National ID card. We might also ask for a valid proof of address.  You'll need a device with a camera to upload these. If you don't have your ID to hand you can finish this step later.
  3. Once they’ve confirmed your identity we’ll activate your account.

Please note, a partial switch does not qualify for any switch incentives we may offer.
