Sending money abroad

Choose the transfer method to suit you, depending how much you're sending, where you're sending it and when you need it to get there.

You have a wide range of transfer methods to choose from, including:

  • Relay - up to £2,000 in local currency single or regular payments
  • Standard transfer - any amount any currency to any country.
  • Urgent transfer - any amount any currency to any country to arrive 1-2 working days
  • Foreign draft - single payment, but post so less secure

You can also make payments using your travellers cheques or your credit card.

Any fees due to the overseas bank will be payable by the recipient. 16.00
Standard transfer to the rest of the world
Any amount in any currency All countries except Europe In 2-4 working days Recipient's bank name and address, account number, sort code You pay £22 per transfer. The overseas bank will also make a charge. You can choose to pay only our charges, to pay all the charges or to have the recipient to pay all the charges. 16.00
Urgent transfer in euro to Europe
Any amount, but must be in euro 27 countries of European Community* as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland Same Day Value International Bank Account Number (IBAN) and SWIFT BIC - more details on form You pay £30 per transfer. Any fees due to the overseas bank will be payable by the recipient. 13.30

Urgent transfer to the rest of the world
Any amount in any currency All countries except Europe 1-2 business days (in countries with electronic banking systems) Recipient's bank name and address, account number, sort code You pay £30 per transfer. The overseas bank will also make a charge. You can choose to pay only our charges, to pay all the charges or to have the recipient to pay all the charges. 16.00
Foreign draft
Any amount in any currency All countries Ordering can be done a few days in advance using Online Banking or from a branch - You should allow 5 business days for the draft to reach you in the post. You must then deliver your draft to the recipient. Recipient's name The country you are sending the money to The currency of the payment (more details on form) You pay £8 for drafts which have a value of less than £101.
