How to Protect Yourself


Bank account fraud - including cheques,
payments or debit card transactions

Do you think you have been a victim of cheque or payment Fraud or have you noticed any transactions or payments to a shop, merchant, company or online store that you have not used before?

If so you can report this to us by calling 0845 300 3983 ( Monday to Friday 8-8, Saturday 8-6 and Sunday 9-5) or by contacting one of our branches. If you are looking to report fraud out with these hours please contact our Lost and Stolen department on 0870 600 0459 who can cancel your card for you.

From outside the United Kingdom, please telephone (0044) 125 230 8047. You can reverse the charges on calls from abroad through the international operator when calling from a landline.

Credit card fraud

If you need to report Fraud in relation to a NatWest Personal Credit Card, you should telephone 0845 300 4350 (24 hours a day).

From outside the United Kingdom, please telephone (0044) 126 850 8020 (24 hours a day). You can reverse the charges on calls from abroad through the international operator when calling from a landline.

If you need to report Fraud in relation to a NatWest Business Credit Card, you should telephone 0845 300 4351 (24 hours a day).

From outside the United Kingdom, please telephone 01268 508 019 (24 hours a day). You can reverse the charges on calls from abroad.

How we may contact you

We are committed to protecting our customers against fraud which is why we may try and contact you using our automated system or an operator in an attempt to reach you as quickly as possible.

Although we can not share all of our checklists with you, our fraud detection system looks out for unusual patterns. This could mean that your recent spending is similar to current fraud trends that our other customers are experiencing, or you are using your card in countries which have been targeted by fraudsters previously.

If you have received a call or voicemail from us about your debit card, please call us back on 0845 356 0020 as soon as possible. If we do not hear from you we may send a letter asking you to contact us.

Report suspicious emails and scam

If you have received a fraudulent or suspicious email, which you have not responded to please forward the e-mail to phishing@natwest.com. If you have responded to the email please call the Online Fraud team on 0845 301 5748.

Remember, if an offer appears to be too good to be true, it usually is - don't respond to any unsolicited communication.
