Fake anti-virus software

There has been a huge increase recently in the proliferation of fake anti-virus software, also known as scareware. Commonly seen as adverts when browsing online, these falsely warn users that their computer’s security has been compromised and offer a downloadable ‘solution’ to clean up their infected computer.

Unfortunately, not only are users parting with their cash to pay for these fake products, the downloaded software often contains Trojans and other malware to steal personal information.

Remember:
Protect yourself using anti-virus software from a reputable company. Leading providers include Trend, Kaspersky, Panda, Norton and McAffee.
