How does NatWest First Saver work?

Apply for a kids savings account

Any NatWest current account customer can open a First Saver account, as long as you’re:

  • aged 18 or over
  • opening the savings account in trust for a baby or child aged 0 to 15 years old.

Pop in £1 to get started. With this saving account for kids, you can pay money in as you go.

Manage baby and kids’ savings any time

Once opened, you can manage the NatWest baby and kids savings account through our mobile app or Online Banking.

You can convert this account into an adult savings account, when they hit 16.

What is the interest rate?

Interest is calculated daily and paid quarterly on the first business day in January, April, July and October and at account closure. You’ll be able to see and access the interest in your account on the following day.

A £5,000 gift card could be yours

Apply for a First Saver by 17th August and have it opened by 31st August and you'll be automatically entered into the prize draw.

After the draw closes, winners will be picked randomly and emailed at the address used when applying. The email will contain a code, which you can exchange for a gift card of your choice, from a wide selection available.

Once you’ve registered, select ‘Next’ to log in and apply for a First Saver account.

Log in to NatWest Online Banking

  1. Enter your customer number or 16-digit card number to get started. 
  2. You'll then need to enter your Online Banking pin and password.
  3. Once you're logged in, select 'Savings accounts' from the product list. 
  4. Finally, choose the account you want to apply for and complete your application.
Do you have any ID for your child?
We accept Pass Cards and National ID Cards. We also accept a birth/adoption certificate.
Do you have our NatWest app on a mobile device?
If you're registered for our app on a mobile device, we can pre-fill some of your info, making the application process faster

We need to see some ID to open this account online

If you don't have a Photo ID for your child, we'll need to see their birth or adoption certificate. You can get a copy of their certificate from:

 

  • England and Wales: The General Register Office
  • Scotland: The National Records of Scotland 
  • Northern Ireland: The General Register Office for Northern Ireland.

To open a First Saver account you need to be aged 18 or over, and be opening the account in trust for a child who us under 16 years old.
