Student Finance

If you live in England, Wales or Northern Ireland, you'll probably have to pay up to £3,070 a year in tuition fees. But if you study full-time, you could be eligible for a loan to cover the cost of your course. How much will that course cost? Are you eligible for support? Apply for finance, and track your application.

And remember, no matter where you study, you still need to apply to your Local Education Authority (LEA).

Bursaries

While bursaries aren't available everywhere, they are pretty handy if you're eligible. In a nutshell, they help you access non-repayable support and grants. Talk to your student union to find out more.

Access funds

If you're desperate for extra cash, you could be entitled to a university access fund. This is a last resort, so you'll have to prove you need the money and can't cope without it. To find out more, ask at your university or student union's welfare office.

Grants

There's a good chance you could be eligible for a grant - half of all new students are. If your parents earn less than £17,910 you could be eligible for £2,765 a year, which you don't have to repay. Partial grants are also available if your parents earn less than £38,330.

Sponsorship

This can be a long, hard process. But if you track down a company that wants you to work for them once you graduate, you may receive training, work experience and money to help with expenses.

'Socrates - Erasmus' funding scheme

If you need to go abroad for a year as part of your degree, this funding scheme could offer you financial help for up to a year. You'll need to apply through your university.
