Open ended

A wide choice with specialist management backing

With open ended investment products, you can invest for as long, or as short, as you like – though you should generally think about investing for five years or more.

Open ended investment funds can invest across a range of different investment assets. This approach can give you wide exposure to investment opportunities – such as equities and bonds - without restricting you to the volatility of one particular type of investment asset.

How they work

All open-ended investment products work more or less the same way – they pool investors' cash to buy assets.

Each investor's part of the pool is represented by a number of shares. The share price changes depending on the total value of all the assets in the investment fund.

You can cash in your shares at any time. You can also check the unit value in national newspapers and on financial websites.

Risks

The level of risk with open ended investments depends on the type of asset they invest in. For example, a fund that invests predominantly in cash will be less risky than one that invests only in shares.

NatWest open ended funds

NatWest offers a range of open ended investment products. With some of them your money is invested with a range of top UK fund management companies. This gives you access to asset management expertise and helps to manage the investment risk.

Child trust funds

Invest for your child or grandchild with a child trust fund and watch their savings grow.
