If you are over 18, earning over £10,000 then linking your credit card to an Advantage Gold Current Account could be for you.

The Advantage Gold Credit Card is currently only available for application in branch or by phone.



How it works

Take out an Advantage Gold Credit Card together with an Advantage Gold Account and you could get all the benefits of your Advantage Gold Account for up to £80 less after a year.

The Advantage Gold Credit Card is linked to an Advantage Gold Account; please speak to a Customer Adviser in branch if you need assistance to open one.

The more you spend on your purchases with your Advantage Gold Credit Card, the more Money Back you could receive. How much you get back after 12 months depends on the average monthly spend on purchases made with your card (see table below) but it could be as much as £80. This offer applies in the first year only.

Your Advantage Gold Credit Card gives you these benefits too:

  • 0% interest on purchases for 6 months from account opening
  • If you also have an Advantage Gold account, you get an initial 1% discount on our standard APR for at least 12 months giving you a ‘Typical 15.9% APR (variable)’

There must be a minimum average of £500 per calendar month credited to your Advantage Gold account. Our current monthly membership subscription is £12.95. Subscription correct as at 01/01/09.

Worry-free payments

A Direct Debit means you’ll always pay your bill on time. Settle the balance in full or make the minimum payment. However, we don’t recommend just making the minimum payment and you must have sufficient funds to pay your direct debit successfully.

You can ask us to review your credit limit after you’ve had the card for six months.


Move funds to a bank account

You can transfer money from your Advantage Gold Credit Card to any UK bank account. You simply pay your money transfer rate from the date of the transfer, and the minimum transfer is £250. See our rates and charges.


Cash advance

Your Advantage Gold Credit Card gives you access to £300 each day, from cash machines around the world. The amount you can withdraw depends on your credit limit, and there’s a 3% handling fee - a minimum of £3.

Purchases and balance transfers

Purchases

Pay 0% interest on your purchases for a whole 6 months from account opening.

After the introductory period, your purchases will be charged at your standard rate. For more about purchases – see our rates and charges.

Transfer your balances

Why not consolidate your existing debt into one easily manageable sum by transferring balances from your existing cards to your NatWest Credit Card. Transfers from other Royal Bank of Scotland Group cards are not permitted.

Transfer up to a limit of 95% of your credit limit

If your new Advantage Gold Credit Card has a limit of £2000, you could switch up to £1900 of your existing balances.

We may end any introductory offer if you do not pay on time or stay within your credit limit.

If you pay your balance (and your previous month's balance) in full and on time each month you'll enjoy up to 56 days' interest free credit on all purchases.


No annual fee

We don’t send you a bill just for choosing a Advantage Gold Credit Card.


1% discount on the APR

If you also have an Advantage Gold current account you are guaranteed a 1% initial discount on our standard credit card rate for at least 12 months. Rates variable.

Money Back Scheme Terms and Conditions

  1. To open a NatWest Advantage Gold Credit Card (the “Card”) you must be a customer of National Westminster Bank Plc (“NatWest”) with an Advantage Gold Account.
  2. In order to qualify for an amount of money credited into your Advantage Gold Account (“Money Back”), as calculated in accordance with Clause 3 below, the Card must be linked to an Advantage Gold Account and there must be a minimum average of £500 per calendar month credited to your Advantage Gold Account. The average amount credited is the total credited to your Advantage Gold Account over the qualifying period (see Clause 3 below) divided by 12.
  3. If you use the Card to make Purchases over a period of 383 days from the date that we open your Card (“qualifying period”), then at the end of the qualifying period a Money Back will be calculated according to the Average Monthly Spend on Purchases as follows:

The Average Monthly Spend is your total spend on Purchases over the qualifying period divided by 12.

  1. Purchases, for the purposes of these terms and conditions are purchases made on the Card and do not include a) balance transfers; b) money transfers; c) advances (including but not limited to cash advances and gambling transactions); d) interest, fees or charges applied against your Card account; e) any purchase transaction which is the subject of a refund to your Card account (we will adjust the Money Back you have earned or subsequently earn to take into account any refund to your Card account).
  2. Any Money Back will be applied and credited to your Advantage Gold Account within 60 days after the end of the qualifying period.
  3. If you break any of the terms and conditions of the Card agreement with us or your Advantage Gold Account or there is suspected fraud involving the Card, PIN or password or involving your Advantage Gold Account, we reserve the right to postpone or cancel payment of any Money Back earned but not yet credited to your Advantage Gold Account.
  4. Any Money Back earned but not yet credited to your Advantage Gold Account will be forfeited immediately in the event that:
    • we take steps to terminate the Card agreement because you break any of its terms and conditions; or
    • we are entitled to close your Advantage Gold Account immediately under its terms and conditions; or
    • you become bankrupt; or
    • you die; or
    • we take action against you to obtain payment under your Card agreement or under your Advantage Gold Account; or
    • you end your Card agreement with us; or
    • you close or downgrade your Advantage Gold Account.
  5. On giving at least 30 days’ notice to you we may change these terms and conditions, the transactions that qualify for a Money Back, the amount of Money Back earned, when the Money Back is paid and how it is paid.
  6. Credit facilities are available only to persons aged 18 years or over.
  7. These terms and conditions are subject to the terms and conditions of the Card and the Advantage Gold Account.

The information you provide will be subject to a credit search with a credit-scoring bureau. Each time a credit search is conducted it is recorded against your details held at the credit-scoring bureau.
