With identity theft on the increase, it’s wise to take as much protection as you can against the fraudsters.
That’s why we’ve teamed up with a number of specialist companies to offer more protection.
To get these benefits, call us on 0845 300 3695 (Minicom 0870 523 9670) to register. You can then get a credit report from Equifax, a leading provider of business information. Log in to register for Card Patrol.
In total, your identity theft protection and assistance package gives you:
- A credit report – see your credit history and any potentially fraudulent credit applications
- Up to £5,000 worth of cover – to help defend and restore your credit status after any fraudulent activity
- Online card monitoring – receive an alert if your card details are being used online
- CIFAS registration – your details are registered with CIFAS (the UK’s fraud prevention service). Member companies carry out extra checks if your details are used on a credit application
- Emergency helpline – get advice on what to do if you believe you’re a victim of fraud
- Valuable document registration – lets you keep important details, such as your passport and insurance information, in a secure, accessible place

If you’re a victim of identity theft, contact Membership Services without delay on 0845 300 3695 (Minicom 0870 523 9670).
Membership Services manages the identity theft protection and assistance scheme on our behalf. Phone lines are open 8am-8pm weekdays and 9am-5pm on Saturdays.
Membership Services will help you with advice on what you need to do. This could involve:
- Filing a police report
- Telling your bank and any other companies who may be involved
- Making a claim under your identity theft protection and assistance policy
- Are there any exclusions under the identity theft protection insurance?
- Is there any time limit in which I can make a claim?
- We have a joint Advantage Gold account, are we both covered against identity fraud?
- What is CIFAS?

A. Yes, the main exclusions are:
- The first £50 of any loss
- Losses that arise out of any business activity

Q. Is there any time limit in which I can make a claim?
A. You should always contact Membership Services as soon as you become aware or suspect that you have been the victim of identity theft.

However, if you do not discover the identity theft until some time later, you can still make a claim under the insurance policy, provided it has not been terminated for longer than six months.
Q. We have a joint Advantage Gold account, are we both covered against identity fraud?
A. Yes, both account holders are covered when you register for the service.
Q. What is CIFAS?
A. CIFAS is the UK’s fraud prevention service. It has 260 members spread across banking, credit cards, asset finance, retail credit, mail order, insurance, savings and investments, telecommunications, factoring, and share dealing.
Members share information about identified frauds to help prevent further fraud.
