Passwords

Keep these valuable possessions safe

With more and more websites requiring passwords, good security is more important than ever:

  • We'll never ask for your password - reputable financial institutions never ask you to verify passwords, so ignore any such requests.
  • Don't leave a record - never share passwords or write them down.
  • Change them regularly - it's easy to do and keeps you even more secure.
  • Be easy on yourself, not the fraudster - try to pick passwords you can easily remember but are impossible for others to guess. Don't use passwords with an obvious connection to you. Really secure passwords are a mix of letters, numbers and other characters, including punctuation marks.
  • Never divulge sensitive information, including passwords, through a website link attached to an email.
