When you make and receive overseas payments, you want them to be secure and fast. NatWest offers a choice of solutions that will help you find the optimum solution to meet your payment requirements.

As an importer you will need to make payments to overseas suppliers (whether you have to pay in advance, on delivery or after), we offer fast and secure electronic payment solutions. Depending on the urgency of your payment, we have a range of options to meet your needs:

Relay
A cost effective electronic solution for sending non-urgent payments up to £2,000 equivalent in local currency to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa and USA.

Standard transfer
Make international payments of any value; normally received within four working days. Euro payments to EU countries (including UK) will be quicker.

Urgent transfer
Make payments with our fastest electronic solution; normally taking up to two working days to be received. Some payments can even be received same day.

As an exporter you will be receiving sterling and non sterling payments from abroad. Our electronic payment solutions give you the speed and security that you require.

Benefits

Key benefits of electronic payments

Fast and secure- payment instructions are sent electronically from the sender's bank to us. The funds are automatically credited to your account, thereby eliminating the need for time-consuming paperwork.

Cost-effective- payments up to and including £100 (or currency equivalent) are charged at £1. Payments of over £100 (or currency equivalent) are charged at £7 each. Our fees are debited from the principal amount before we credit your account. We will send you a credit advice showing a breakdown of our charges.

Ease of use- all you need to do is give your customers details of your NatWest account; they can arrange for your account to be credited directly from their bank.

Funds available quickly- payments received will be credited to your account as soon as possible. This will be either on the value date or, if this is not possible, on the next best possible value date.

Automatic currency conversion- most payments will be automatically converted to the currency of your account. If you do not wish us to convert the payment, simply contact us prior to the payment being sent.

How to receive funds electronically

Funds can be received electronically, all you require is to provide the payer with is:

  • Our bank name in full (e.g. National Westminster Bank Plc)
  • SWIFT address (the NatWest SWIFT address is: NWBKGB2L)
  • Your account name
  • Your IBAN number (this can be found on your statement)
