Charities and Social Enterprise
Our charity and social enterprise banking team is dedicated to supporting a healthy, vibrant and innovative third sector in the UK – for schools, colleges, clubs, businesses, societies and charities. We understand the challenges facing organisations that pursue a socially entrepreneurial approach to their work.
Our service to third sector organisations includes:
- Specialist support – for charities, community organisations and social enterprises delivered through a team of charity champions across the UK.
- A central team – on hand to look after charity and social enterprise organisations.
- Local decision-making – so we can respond quickly to your requests.
- National partnerships – working with key national bodies that represent different areas of the third sector.
- Community support – through a range of initiatives, including awards and sponsorships.
What we offer:

- Treasurer's Account – designed to handle the finances for non-profit organisations, such as clubs, societies churches and charities. Our account offers free deposits and withdrawals for community groups with a turnover up of to £100,000. There are no transaction fees on the following:
- cheques and other non-automated debits
- Direct Debits, standing orders and other automated debits
- cash exchanged, paid in and withdrawn
- Autopay payments and credits distributed
- automated and non-automated credits
- Community Business Loan – micro-finance funding for new and existing social entrepreneurs.
- Savings options – so you can earn a return on any surplus funds.
- A nationwide network – of branches and cash machines.
We collaborate with key organisations which have extensive links to the charity, social enterprise and community sectors. They include the following.
- Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations (ACEVO) – the leading voice for chief executives in the third sector.
- British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) – a network of Accredited Chambers of Commerce across the UK.
- The Civil Society Charity Awards – awards for charities and the voluntary sector to celebrate.
- The Charity Finance Group – the charity that works with finance managers to ensure best practice in charity finance. We will be attending the CFG's Charity Finance Conference on 15 October 2012.
- Community Development Finance Association (CDFA) – the representative body for Community Development Finance Institutions.
- Social Firms UK – the national support and membership organisation for the development of the Social Firm and Work Integration Social Enterprise (WISE) sector in the UK.
- Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) – the umbrella body for voluntary organisations in Scotland.
