Mobile phone banking

Stay on top of your finances when you're on the move

Mobile phone banking from NatWest is the perfect way to stay in touch with your business cash flow and finances, even when you're out and about.

Want to know your account balance or if a payment has left your account while you're away from the office? Mobile phone banking lets you access key information about your account, keeping you in touch wherever you are.

If you have a business account with a debit or ATM card, it's easy to set up and use mobile phone banking.

Will I have to pay extra for topping up my mobile phone with you?
No - you just pay for the cost of the top up.

Will mobile phone banking work on my phone?
Mobile phone banking works on most modern mobile phones. If your phone has a camera or games, it should work.
To use mobile phone banking your phone must:

  • support Java
  • have at least 64kb of free memory
  • be able to connect to the internet - using WAP (GPRS) or 3G.

If your phone isn't compatible, you can still keep an eye on your account using text alerts.

Will mobile phone banking work with my mobile phone network?
Yes, if your network is one of:
O2
Vodafone
T-Mobile
Orange
Tesco Mobile
Virgin Mobile
3 (Currently, 3 only supports text alerts, balance checks and mini statements.)

Can I use mobile phone banking outside the UK?
Yes, as long as you use one of the supported mobile phone networks and have a UK bank account with an address registered in the UK. You'll also need to check with your mobile phone network that your phone allows international roaming.
Remember that your mobile phone network may charge you differently for using mobile phone banking outside the UK.

What accounts can I access with mobile phone banking?
You can access all NatWest current accounts which come with a debit card.
You can also add up to 10 accounts you have with Lloyds TSB, HSBC, first direct, and Alliance and Leicester.

Do I need to set my mobile phone up specially to get mobile phone banking?
All you need to do is make sure you have GPRS enabled and up-to-date WAP settings but you don't need to adjust your phone settings. When you register, we'll prompt you to download the latest settings for your phone.
You can also download or update your WAP settings [LINK TO http://monilink.wdsglobal.com/monilink/phonefirst] on the Monilink website.

What if I lose my mobile phone?
You need to tell your mobile phone network immediately, so they can disable the phone. If you get a new phone with the same number, you don't need to tell us. If you have a new number, you'll need to re-register for mobile phone banking or text alerts.

As long as your passcode is secure, no one else can use your phone to access your mobile phone banking data.

What if I change my mobile phone network?
As long as you keep the same number and your new mobile phone network supports mobile phone banking, you don't need to do anything.

What if I change my mobile phone?
Mobile phone banking
For security, make sure you delete the mobile phone banking software from your old phone. If you keep the same number for your new phone, you can simply text ‘DOWN' to 82428 to download the service again. Your passcode will be the same as before.
Text alerts
As long as you keep the same number, the service will carry on as before.

What if I change my mobile phone number?
You'll need to re-register for the mobile phone banking or text alerts as if you were a new customer.

What if I change my SIM card?
If you keep the same number, you don't need to do anything. If you have a new number, you'll need to re-register for mobile phone banking or text alerts as if you were a new customer.

How will mobile phone banking use my personal information?
If you would like to see what personal information we hold, please write to the Data Controller c/o MONILINK, PO BOX 568, Harrogate HG1 9BZ, enclosing a cheque for £10 payable to MONILINK

Most modern phones will be able to operate our full mobile phone banking service. Our text only service works with every mobile phone.

Account activity alert
You can arrange to receive a text if your account balance reaches a pre-determined upper or lower limit. You can use this service to trigger a warning if your account is about to become overdrawn or to alert (not sure reminder is the right term as this would be the first notification that the payment has been made therefore not a reminder?) that you have been paid by a supplier.

Weekly balance
You can arrange for your account balance to be sent to your phone once a week, on a day and at a time that suits you.

You can set up text alerts for up to ten accounts.

Text alerts costs
Text alerts are free for Advantage Business Current Account customers and cost just £2 a month for other customers.
