The growth in Internet use has created an exciting new marketing and sales tool for businesses. Nearly all businesses seem to have a website, but once you have decided to build a site for your business, you will need to consider its purpose and value. Who will design and maintain the website, and will it be for sales or purely to provide information for prospective clients? There will be cost and security implications, all of which need to be addressed.

The SANS Institute believes unpatched computers will, on average, come under attack from a virus, Trojan, worm or other security threat within 20 minutes of connecting to the Internet. This alarming warning is particularly relevant for businesses with high-speed connections, and compares to a ‘survival time' of 40 minutes recorded this time last year.
