Who can offer me advice on environmental issues?

The requirements of larger companies have encouraged the development of an industry of environmental consultants, who can advise on a range of relevant issues, including compliance, improving efficiencies and developing an environmental policy. The industry association for waste management and related environmental services is the Environmental Services Association.

The Environment Agency is a public body sponsored by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA). The agency provides advice and information on its work, which covers:

• Pollution prevention and control.
• Waste minimisation.
• Management of water resources.
• Flood defence.
• Improvement of salmon and freshwater fisheries.
• Conservation.
• Navigation.
