The Government has finally announced a date for the implementation of the Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment (WEEE) Directive, which will place the burden for disposing of used white goods and consumer electronics onto the producer. The new law will be introduced in June 2006, and aims to tackle the problem of potentially hazardous waste created by discarded goods.
